The New Perodua Alza Achieved 5-Star ASEAN NCAP Rating

Kajang, Malaysia, 20 July 2022 – Today, the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP) is proud to release its second assessment result for 2022.

ASEAN NCAP recently assessed Perodua’s latest model; the All-New Perodua Alza. The new Perodua Alza made a remarkable achievement in the assessment in which it obtained 5-Star ASEAN NCAP rating with an overall score of 81.64 points. The new Alza is the fourth model that was assessed under the current 2021-2025 protocol comprising four assessment categories namely Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) in which it achieved 36.20 points, Child Occupant Protection (COP) category with 16.88 points, Safety Assist (SA) with 18.57 points and 10.00 points for Motorcyclist Safety (MS) category.

The newly launched 7-seater MPV comes equipped with a standard fitment of 6 airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Seatbelt Reminder System (SBR) for frontal and rear occupants. In addition, the model is also fitted with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) systems, Auto High Beam and Pedestrian Protection technology as standard across all its variants. It also offers other advanced safety assist technologies either as standard or optional fitment namely Blind Spot Detection (BSD) fitted on both sides of the vehicle, Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Forward Collision Warning (FWC) and Lane Keep Assist (LKA).

As such we are proud that Malaysian’s local manufacturers have been progressive in vehicle safety by adhering to ASEAN NCAP’s strict requirements.”

Dato’ Dr. Khairil Anwar who is also the Secretary General of ASEAN NCAP added, “With the launch of the new Alza, Perodua has shown their continuous passion and spirit for safety of the road users—not only for the safety of their customers and their families but also other vulnerable road users. Hence, I encourage more vehicle manufacturers to project similar passion as well by developing cars that have the needed safety technologies as we work together to meet the target of halving road fatalities in this region.”

The ASEAN NCAP 2021-2025 latest assessment protocol covers four assessment domains with AOP covers 40.00 points of the overall score, and COP, SA and MS make up 20.00 points each of the overall score.

The following is an overview of the result by Perodua Alza.

  • The new Perodua Alza successfully achieved a total score of 81.64 points which made up from 36.20 points from the AOP category, 16.88 points from COP, 18.57 points of the SA assessment category and 10.00 points from MS. This total score has awarded the MPV with 5-Star ASEAN NCAP rating.
